About the RoleWe’re seeking an IT Support Specialist to provide hands‑on technical support in a steel manufacturing environment
. This role is highly visible and customer‑facing—perfect for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, getting out of the chair to fix issues, and working directly with employees on‑site. You’ll be part of a collaborative IT team that values teamwork, adaptability, and continuous learning.
- Desktop Support
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software issues for desktops, laptops, printers, phones, and other peripherals.
- Support Windows 10, Office 365, and packaged applications.
- Perform software installations, license tracking, and asset management.
- Manage service tickets in Service Now
, escalating as needed but maintaining ownership until resolution. - Customer Service
- Deliver excellent support with patience, professionalism, and clear communication.
- Explain technical issues in simple terms to non‑technical users.
- Provide in‑person support by meeting internal clients directly on the shop floor.
- Technical/Infrastructure
- Provide basic support for local servers and network infrastructure (with Cisco and Active Directory escalations handled by the Infrastructure Team).
- Assist with VMware server environment (20–25 servers); prior VMware knowledge a plus.
- Support occasional mainframe implementations.
- Maintain awareness of the local LAN setup/topology to troubleshoot basic connectivity issues.
- Business Analyst Support
- Serve as the local IT liaison to management, sharing business needs with regional IT.
- Help support IT‑related projects rolled out to the site.
- 3+ years’ experience in desktop/help desk support.
- Familiarity with Windows 10, Office 365, and basic troubleshooting.
- Exposure to Service Now or similar ticketing systems.
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (dirty, loud, hot).
- Willingness to adapt to changing schedules and respond to occasional after‑hours emergencies.
- Experience supporting VMware or cloud‑based systems.
- Prior work in industrial or manufacturing settings.
- Associates Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
