Overview

Provides executive leadership for physician services throughout Henry Ford Jackson Hospital and campus (HFJH). Acts as a champion for enhancing the quality of care, comprehensive health care delivery, and patient safety while exceeding patients' expectations of the overall care experience. Serves as a medical executive and partner to senior leadership and medical staff leaders throughout Henry Ford Health to provide strategic direction in medical staff engagement, including but not limited to medical staff development, physician alignment, succession planning, accreditation, models for collaboration and acts as a clinical resource to various system service line leaders.

Fosters dialogue and collaboration between the operational, patient care services, nursing, and clinical service areas, and HFJH leadership to promote improvements in clinical quality indicators and outcomes, support clinical process redesign, clinical informatics, and leverage enabling technologies. Serves as a member of the assigned leadership team, participating in the overall management of HFJH and as a leader in the development, governance, and management of the emerging healthcare market and industry to promote and achieve high-reliability outcomes.

Provides expertise in medical staff functions such as physician credentialing, privileging, peer review medical staff by-laws, and medical staff recruiting. This position will report to the West Region CMO.

Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership for physician services across HFJH campuses.
  • Champion quality of care, patient safety, and patient experience beyond expectations.
  • Partner with senior leadership and medical staff to guide strategic direction in medical staff engagement.
  • Drive medical staff development, physician alignment, succession planning, and accreditation efforts.
  • Foster collaboration across operational, patient care services, nursing, and clinical service areas to improve clinical quality indicators and outcomes.
  • Support clinical process redesign, clinical informatics, and adoption of enabling technologies.
  • Participate in HFJH leadership governance and contribute to high-reliability outcomes.
  • Provide expertise in credentialing, privileging, peer review by-laws, and medical staff recruitment.
  • Report to the West Region Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Osteopathy (D.O.), board certified in a clinical specialty. Advanced formal training in public health or administration preferred.
  • Seven to ten (7-10) or more years of successful clinical practice and five (5) or more years of executive leadership experience, including responsibility for fiscal and medical staff management.
  • Thorough knowledge of health care trends, physician-hospital relationships, physician practice models, access issues, inpatient and ED throughput, quality improvement processes, clinical information systems, and credentialing implications in a changing health care environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills to initiate and develop productive partnerships with all management/leadership levels and staff; ability to influence results and manage complex relationships across the organization.
  • Customer service orientation with the ability to understand customer requirements and exercise judgment to meet needs and resolve differences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, persuasion, consulting, team building, and negotiation skills; ability to articulate a commitment to high quality and patient safety and to inspire support in others.
  • Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment with a personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring, and the ability to motivate others to promote HFHS.
