Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Maintenance Mechanic Technician in our Jackson, AL Mill.
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines;
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments;
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools, and examining form and texture of parts;
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments;
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges;
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance;
- Fabricates repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment;
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock, determining inventory levels, anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies, and placing and expediting orders;
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results;
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests;
- Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends;
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations;
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Must have two (2) years documented work experience and currently working as a maintenance mechanic.
- Two (2) year applicable technology degree, military service as a maintenance mechanic, or two (2) year apprentice program can be used to meet part of the experience requirements.
- Ability and willingness to work shift work and weekends; shift work may be required.
- Strong commitment to safety required.
Those selected to go through the PCA hiring process will be asked to take a series of five written tests and take part in a structured board interview.
