Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Nurse – Prep & Recovery Unit in Ithaca, NY. 8-week travel nursing contract (Feb 2–Mar 30, 2026), day 12-hour shifts, estimated weekly pay $2,070–$2,180. • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,070 - $2,180
• Hours per Week: 36 (Guaranteed)
• Shift: Day shifts — 12-hour shifts (5:00 AM start to 9:30 PM end); flexible scheduling option for 4x10s
• On Call: Required (includes 1 weekend day call per 6-week rotation and weekday call)

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
• Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg or PACU nursing experience (perioperative / post-anesthesia care experience preferred)
• Preoperative nursing experience preferred; perioperative certification a plus
• Experience with peripheral nerve blocks preferred
• Experience caring for pediatric patients (age 6 months and older) preferred
• BLS certification required (ACLS preferred / beneficial for some cases)
• Ability to safely manage a 1:2 patient ratio, including simultaneous Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills in fast-paced surgical settings
• Familiarity with ASPAN guidelines and PACU best practices

• Provide preoperative and postoperative nursing care for pediatric and adult patients in the Prep & Recovery Unit / PACU
• Manage recovery for elective, add-on, urgent, and emergent surgical cases across specialties (orthopedic, general, ENT, neuro, plastics, urology, GYN)
• Perform Phase I and Phase II recovery, clinical assessments, pain management, and safe discharge teaching
• Care for MAC cases, recover ICU and endoscopy patients as needed, and assist with local procedures (thoracentesis, paracentesis, minor ortho)
• Support pediatric post-anesthesia care for patients 6 months and older when applicable
• Maintain compliance with ASPAN recommendations, facility policies, and safety protocols
• Participate in on-call rotation and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• No floating to other surgery centers required
