The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct patient and family support and nursing care within their full scope of practice.
This will include participation in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and services for patients, families, and the community.
The responsibilities will include the observation data collection, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s physical, psychological, emotional educational and spiritual needs as guided by an individualized and ongoing plan of care.
The RN will work collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
Charge Nurse Role:
The charge nurse of the ED is responsible for coordinating the patient movement throughout the department and staff assignments within the department. This will entail receiving pre-arrival report from EMS and other community partners. Coordinating with the triage nurse regarding the needs of walk-in arrivals. Collaboration with the House Supervisor regarding throughput needs and bed assignments for admissions. Close collaboration with the department ward clerk, provider staff, ED techs, RNs, and crisis evaluators is essential.
All of this requires strong professional communication skills, conflict resolution, time management, and organization.
Department Overview:
CMC ED has 21 monitored beds, 5 psych safe treatment rooms, and 3 hall beds that are routinely used = 29 beds. Additional hall beds are used as needed.
The nurses are staffed 4-5:1 depending on acuity.
The department has a dedicated case manager and social worker during business hours 7 days per week.
The Crisis Evaluators are ED personnel that do mental health evaluations.
ED techs are staffed and trained in phlebotomy, EKGs, patient safety observation, etc.
Provider staffing includes 3 MDs and 2 PAs working each 24hour period.
We are a chest pain accredited organization and a primary stroke center.
We do not hold a trauma designation.
