* Fitness Desk Staff must be 18 years or older.
* Must have knowledge of cardio and strength equipment.
* Must be able to handle complaints and concerns from members, respond in a professional manner.
* Must have current First-Aid, CPR, and AED certification or certification classes provided by park district.
* Open building and fitness center in morning, unlocking all doors and turning on all lights, TV’s and fans.
* Greet members and check all ’s. when members sign in.
* Wipe down all equipment, this is a continuous task throughout a shift.
* Vacuum carpet and sweep floors twice a day, and as needed.
* Dust mop track, wipe down track equipment, and windowsills daily.
* Clean and organize Fitness and Dance Rooms and second floor restrooms daily and as needed.
* Follow shift responsibilities and directions from supervisor.
* Process memberships and maintain filing of new member forms.
* Communicate to all members any current information they need to know regarding closings, etc.
* Report any problems or repairs needed on any equipment to Aquatics & Fitness Supervisor.
* Continually interact with and listen to members’ concerns, complaints and comments and respond in a positive and professional manner. Report all concerns and comments to Aquatics & Fitness Supervisor.
* Provide new members the Itasca Park District equipment and facility orientation for all the cardio and strength equipment in the Fitness Center and an overview of fitness programming options.
* Attend all staff meetings and trainings
* Must always wear Fitness Uniform and name tag.
* Good knowledge of emergency protocols, ability to thrive during high stress situations, and awareness of safety protocols, equipment, building and techniques.
* Strong knowledge of cleaning, sanitation, and safety procedures and processes.
* Ability to communicate, present ideas and make recommendations orally and in writing in a clear and consistent manner.
* Must possess good safety awareness and judgement.
* Ability to be self-motivated and able to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
* Ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.
* Ability to proactively troubleshoot, problem solve and make sound judgements in keeping with the mission of the park district.
* Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform ongoing light to moderate work.
* Staff will regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, sit and perform other repetitive motions, as required.
* Ability to lift medium weights of up to 50 pounds occasionally without assistance and heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of equipment. The ability to lift, turn and carry 50 pounds safely, placing the load on a chest-high shelf fulfills this lifting requirement**.
*** Vision is required to observe all activities, the participants during activities, using cleaning equipment and supplies, identifying areas needing to be cleaned, and to review work lists and daily schedules.
* Hearing and speech are required to hear and converse with staff, parents, and participants.
* Work environment is indoors and outdoors at the Rec Center and grounds.
* Potential exposure to chronic infectious disease while performing routine first aid or emergency procedures.
* The use of the following personal protective clothing and equipment (PPE) is required, based on the assigned job duties.
