Overview
The Sr. Domestic Operations Manager oversees operations within a designated region. This role works closely with the Regional Director of Operations to develop and execute strategies that drive growth, profitability, and operational excellence. It requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a focus on continuous improvement across domestic operations to ensure customer satisfaction, compliance, and budget performance.
Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership & Operational Management: Collaborate with the Regional Director of Operations to set regional and local goals aligned with the overall business plan. Develop and execute policies, procedures, and programs to meet organizational needs and ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory laws, and guidelines. Focus on profitability and growth goals and support review of regional P&L performance to address shortfalls.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within key service areas to ensure operational excellence and service profit growth. - Business Development &
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Support business development, sales, marketing, and new account development to drive revenue generation for domestic services. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, customer service, IT, etc.) to streamline operations and ensure efficient service delivery. Assist with onboarding new accounts and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs). Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners to ensure high levels of service and satisfaction. - Resource Planning & Team Leadership: Plan and allocate resources effectively (staffing, training, equipment, systems) to ensure contractual compliance and delivery of high-quality services. Provide leadership and support to station teams, addressing issues related to operations, communication, revenue enhancement, and process execution. Develop operations staff, ensuring proper training and performance management.
- Operational Excellence & Performance Monitoring: Manage and optimize operational systems and provide recommendations for process improvements. Support development and deployment of reporting and monitoring tools to ensure proper financial and transactional management of operational transactions. Ensure performance metrics and KPIs are achieved within the regional operations.
- Financial Management & Reporting: Prepare ad-hoc reports on internal KPIs, agent performance, and status of operational excellence. Provide ad-hoc updates on operational performance and ensure proper tools and metrics are in place to meet growth, service, and profitability goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Education
* High School Diploma (Required)
* Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
Experience
* 7+ years logistics/operations management (Required)
* 3+ years in a senior leadership role (Required)
* Experience working with Independent Contractors (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Knowledge of freight forwarding operations and industry best practices (High)
* Proven experience managing P&L and performance management (High)
* Expertise in operational systems, particularly Cargowise, and process improvement methodologies (Medium)
* Leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team (High)
* Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments (High)
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on operational efficiency and service quality (High)
