Director of Credit

Location: Onsite

Our client, a leading Food Product Distributor, is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Credit to oversee and elevate their credit operations. This is a key leadership role for a dynamic professional who can balance risk management with business growth while guiding a high‑performing credit team.

Responsibilities of the Director of Credit
  • Develop and execute comprehensive credit strategies that support business objectives and responsible growth.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of skilled credit professionals.
  • Implement, refine, and enforce credit policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Analyze credit data, customer financials, and market trends to inform sound credit decisions.
  • Track credit performance metrics, identify areas of concern, and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including Sales, Finance, and Operations—to ensure smooth and efficient credit processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners such as customers, financial institutions, and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications of the Director of Credit
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in credit management.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk management, underwriting principles, and credit policy execution.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, credit scoring models, and evaluating customer creditworthiness.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with fintech tools or digital credit platforms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements.
