The tax staff accountant is responsible for a wide variety of diversified accounting and tax assignments under the supervision of various professional staff members.

• Prepares a variety of tax returns, including corporate, partnership, individual tax and fiduciary
• Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, 1099s and W-2s, along with monthly bookkeeping, as needed
• Prepares amended and carryback returns
• Prepares S-election form, form to request accounting changes and form requesting to acquire an employer identification number
• Responds and prepares initial drafts of tax notices and letters
• Researches technical issues using regulatory and source materials utilizing electronic databases
• Ensures tax returns are prepared in accordance with the terms of the various governing documents and applicable federal tax and state law
• Participates in technical discussions and propose solutions relating to client tax matters
• Uses Firm’s software to automate the data transfer process from the trial balance to the financial statements and eventually for the preparation of the tax return

• Pass the CPA exam
• Develop excellent oral and written communication skills, while also creating specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work
• Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and maintain them over time
• Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis
• Maintain and expand knowledge base in area of expertise

• Represent the Firm in a manner consistent with our values and Five Star philosophy

• Native and/or Business level Japanese language skill required
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field, or MBA
