Function
The tax staff accountant is responsible for a wide variety of diversified accounting and tax assignments under the supervision of various professional staff members.
Professional Responsibilities- Prepares a variety of tax returns, including corporate, partnership, individual tax and fiduciary
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, 1099s and W-2s, along with monthly bookkeeping, as needed
- Prepares amended and carryback returns
- Prepares S-election form, form to request accounting changes and form requesting to acquire an employer identification number
- Responds and prepares initial drafts of tax notices and letters
- Researches technical issues using regulatory and source materials utilizing electronic databases
- Ensures tax returns are prepared in accordance with the terms of the various governing documents and applicable federal tax and state law
- Participates in technical discussions and propose solutions relating to client tax matters
- Uses Firm’s software to automate the data transfer process from the trial balance to the financial statements and eventually for the preparation of the tax return
- Pass the CPA exam
- Develop excellent oral and written communication skills, while also creating specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and maintain them over time
- Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis
- Maintain and expand knowledge base in area of expertise
- Take proactive career steps through mentoring program
- Participate in recruiting efforts as needed
- Represent the Firm in a manner consistent with our values and Five Star philosophy
- Native and/or Business level Japanese language skill required
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field, or MBA
