Job Summary
Supply Chain Manager – Naples, Italy. The role leads the strategic and operational management of supply chain activities for all metropolitan and railway Service & Maintenance operations within Region Italy, ensuring material availability, cost optimisation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Define and implement a unified supply chain strategy supporting both long‑term service contracts and short‑term maintenance projects.
Represent the supply chain function in steering committees.
Coordinate supply chain activities with Project Management, Engineering, Construction & Maintenance departments to ensure timely delivery of materials, tools, and equipment.
Oversee cross‑border logistics operations, including transportation, customs, warehousing, and last‑mile delivery to construction and maintenance sites.
Ensure alignment between material planning and project schedules to prevent delays and minimise downtime.
Manage procurement strategy in close alignment with the purchasing department, including supplier selection, contract negotiations and performance monitoring.
Implement robust material planning in collaboration with engineering and project planning teams.
Develop and maintain strategic supplier partnerships to ensure reliability, innovation and cost competitiveness.
Establish and manage SLAs with the O&M department to ensure timely deliveries, high quality standards, technical support and responsiveness during the warranty phase.
Monitor and improve supplier KPIs across countries, ensuring OTIF, quality and responsiveness.
Manage relationships with the O&M department to ensure access to certified components, technical documentation and long‑term service contracts.
Oversee warranty lifecycle management, including claims processing, monitoring and integration with maintenance systems.
Develop and implement obsolescence strategies to mitigate risks related to ageing assets, discontinued components and technological transitions.
Conduct Make‑or‑Buy analyses for critical components and services.
Implement standardized supply chain systems and infrastructure for tenders, new projects and legacy upgrades.
Deploy and integrate IT tools (ERP, CMMS, analytics dashboards) across regions to ensure real‑time visibility and control.
Promote digital transformation initiatives such as predictive analytics, AI‑based forecasting and automated replenishment.
Drive continuous improvement using best practices and lean‑equivalent methodologies.
Ensure compliance with global and local Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) regulations.
Develop and manage annual budgets for inventory, logistics and personnel across regions.
Establish and monitor global KPIs, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and customer satisfaction.
Build and lead a high‑performing supply chain team across regions, fostering collaboration and accountability.
Design and implement organisational structures that support agility, scalability and operational excellence.
Promote a culture of innovation, safety and continuous learning within the supply chain organisation.
Support strategic supply chain projects and transformation programmes based on business needs.
Lead risk management initiatives to mitigate supply disruptions, geopolitical challenges and compliance risks.
Collaborate with finance and commercial teams to improve profitability through cost control and value engineering.
Ensure supply chain readiness for new markets, expansions and consortium‑led mega projects.
Qualifications & Skills
Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics or Economics.
Proven leadership experience in Supply Chain, preferably in railway, infrastructure or transportation sectors.
Experience managing multinational operations and cross‑cultural teams.
