Surety Underwriter

Position: SURETY UNDERWRITER
Location: Via Milano

Job Purpose/Role
Based in Milan and reporting to the Surety Team, you will be in charge of developing and executing the strategy for the Constructors and Corporate Client risks in the Italian market. With strong ties to the Group, you will also support the local strategy to ensure the successful achievement of the Allianz Mid Corporate targets. You will be the contact person for agents and/or brokers.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure underwriters comply with underwriting authority, pricing and rating guidelines.
Steer and control the portfolio at local level to drive the achievement of financial targets.
Proactively liaise with functional areas to review performance of end‑to‑end underwriting life cycle.
Work closely with Sales departments, Engineering, Claims and other product lines to achieve key marketing strategies, including cross‑selling.
Ensure underwriting consistency and discipline and adherence to all corporate guidelines and authority levels, including Rules and Principles, Underwriting Authorities, corporate governance rules and local regulatory framework.
Support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including agent and broker negotiations).
Communicate local business strategy externally.

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

Master's degree in Economics.
At least 3 to 5 years proven experience in underwriting profitable Surety for corporate clients and constructors.
Proven leadership skills.
Expertise in risk assessment and firm understanding of policy administration life cycle.
Sound knowledge of pricing, together with strong market analysis skills.
Ideally experience in balance sheet analysis.
Ideally experience in driving underwriting projects.
Entrepreneurial mindset.
Strong communication skills.
Able to work in an international organization.
Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
Data analytics.
Very good knowledge in Office 365 and other collaborative tools.
