Within the P&C & Reinsurance Office function we are looking for a talented and proactive resource to join the Climate Technical Excellence Unit. The role will focus on assessing the performance of internally developed models and ensuring their integration with external vendor outputs and on providing robust analytical support to pricing, loss prevention, claims management, and risk accumulation colleagues, ensuring high-quality model outputs that support the Group’s decision-making.
The job holder can be based both in Milan or Trieste.
Key responsibilities of the role will include:
Conducting performance assessments of internally developed Nat Cat models
Supporting the blending of internal model outputs with those from external vendors (e.g. RMS, Moody’s)
Producing high-quality modelling outputs to support pricing, risk accumulation monitoring, and loss prevention activities
Collaborating with the Risk Understanding Lead to ensure continuous improvement of model accuracy and usability
Preparing technical analyses and scenario outputs for use by Business Units and senior management
Maintaining awareness of emerging best practices and tools in catastrophe modelling
Requirements
4+ years of experience in catastrophe modelling within insurance, reinsurance, or a consultancy
Proficiency in catastrophe modelling software, exposure management tools, and statistical analysis
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail
Experience working with large datasets, ideally with programming skills (Python, R, SQL)
Ability to translate technical results into actionable insights for business stakeholders
Proactive and collaborative team player with strong problem‑solving abilities
