The Role – HLTA:
Maths

A mixed, mainstream secondary school in the London Borough of Islington is seeking a dedicated HLTA:
Maths to join their team ASAP. You will take a leading role in managing and delivering targeted mathematical support, including small group Maths interventions and Entry Level Maths.

The role involves supporting students with special educational needs, EMTAG and EAL, as well as those who are gifted and talented, looked after, vulnerable, or underachieving, ensuring their inclusion within the classroom and wider school community. You will assist in the delivery of Maths lessons, develop effective intervention strategies, and lead Maths learning groups for students with a wide range of abilities.

You will work both within and outside the mainstream classroom to build students’ confidence in Maths, identify suitable pathways for those struggling to engage with the curriculum, and contribute to improved outcomes. The role also includes assessing student needs, developing and maintaining education and pastoral support plans, advising staff on learning strategies (particularly in Maths), and building strong relationships with students.
