Ekhator School of Music provides music education for children ages seven and up, as well as adults who want to learn or return to playing. Supported by First Presbyterian Church of Irvington, the school blends musical training with values that build confidence, responsibility, and personal growth. E.S.O.M works to empower each student while strengthening the community through music.

Role Description

This is an on-site volunteer role located in Irvington, NJ, for a Music Teacher. The Music Teacher will be responsible for instructing students in music theory, music performance, and piano. Daily responsibilities also include preparing lesson plans, providing individualized support to students, guiding group practices, and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. The Music Teacher will support the overall music education program of Ekhator School of Music to inspire creativity and passion for music in students.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Music Theory and Music Performance is essential for the role.
  • Experience in Music Education and Piano instruction is required to teach effectively.
  • A strong understanding of general Music concepts and techniques is critical.
  • Proficient in teaching various instruments-Expertise in Drums & Guitar is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with students of all ages and skill levels.
  • Ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment for diverse learners.
  • Background in teaching or certifications in music education is a plus.
  • Experience teaching piano and supporting students of all ages, rooted in a belief in Christian principles that shape a caring and respectful learning space.
  • Must be available on Saturday afternoons-Classes are held from 4pm-6pm.
  • Must be willing to commute to Irvington NJ
