Duties include cleaning animal enclosures and maintaining animal shelter facilities, grounds, and the incinerator; handling, caring for, feeding, and restraining animals; vaccinating, microchipping, administering medication, and drawing blood for health checks. Additional duties involve answering phones, assisting customers in person and via email, collaborating with animal rescue groups, processing adoptions, transfers, reclaims, and city registrations; providing guidance to community service workers and volunteers;
maintaining records and entering data into a specialized database; and performing euthanasia. The role requires exceptional customer service skills and typically involves lifting up to 50 pounds frequently. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. No experience is necessary, but relevant experience and bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are beneficial. Euthanasia certification must be obtained within six months of hire. The schedule is normally five days per week, eight hours per day, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. A résumé must be submitted with the application.
Starting pay is Pay Grade GG09 Step 3, $17.90 per hour.
