Report to the EVP, Chief Philanthropy Officer. The VP President – BSW Irving Foundation is responsible for planning, overseeing, and leading philanthropic activities of one or more foundations for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH). The role includes capital campaigns, major gifts, annual giving, corporate and institutional giving, employee and board giving, endowment programs, planned giving, marketing strategies, donor communications, and related programs.
This position obtains new revenue funds for the BSWH foundations through gifts, donations, and grants, ensuring philanthropy meets the needs of BSWH’s patients, hospitals, clinics, ambulatory care facilities, healthcare services, research, and education.
- Oversee philanthropic activities of one or more of the major foundations for BSWH.
- Develop the foundation fundraising plan, priorities, and programs aligned with BSWH mission.
- Lead identification of top prospects, creation of foundation operating plans, and design of cultivation, solicitation, and closure strategies.
- Develop and implement foundation policies and procedures that govern operations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
- Lead development and implementation of new foundation programs, initiatives, and services.
- Partner with BSWH executive leadership, Foundation Boards, and key volunteers in fundraising activities.
- Develop, plan, and implement all fundraising strategies and activities to meet budgetary and campaign goals.
- Integrate philanthropy best practices, steward all gifts, and ensure coordinated approach for major gift solicitation, planned giving, stewardship, annual giving, and prospect research.
- Represent the Foundation to the Board of Trustees, donors, constituencies, and other stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred;
Master’s preferred. - 5+ years of experience in non-profit management, charitable fundraising, or related area.
- 1+ years of experience in a leadership role.
- High energy and passion for using foundations for medical excellence and research.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proven success in securing major gifts and building long-term donor relationships.
- Certified Fund‑Raising Executive (CFRE) or similar certification preferred.
- Knowledge of planned giving fundraising and trusts, especially in a healthcare setting.
- Understanding of IRS regulations and other tax laws applicable to charitable giving.
- Ability to communicate legal implications of philanthropy to various constituencies.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent 4 years of work experience.
