We are partnering with a multi-entity organization undergoing a finance and accounting transformation. During this period, we are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager – Accounts Payable to ensure stability, accuracy, and continuity of Accounts Payable operations while broader transformation initiatives are executed in parallel.
This role is approximately 80–90% operational execution and oversight
, with 10–20% continuity support related to the individual’s existing leadership responsibilities. Consultants will backfill operational roles during the engagement.
This is a hands-on leadership role
—ideal for a Senior AP Manager or Director-level professional who is comfortable working directly in the details, resolving escalations, and leading teams through complexity.
- Own and actively manage end-to-end Accounts Payable operations across multiple U.S. and international entities
- Provide hands-on oversight of daily AP activities, stepping in as needed to resolve issues and ensure uninterrupted operations
- Supervise the AP Manager, T&E Lead, and offshore AP specialists
, ensuring clear accountability and performance standards - Monitor AP inboxes and inquiry queues, ensuring timely, accurate responses and issue resolution
- Oversee invoice coding and approval workflows, expediting approvals and resolving aged or stalled invoices
- Investigate and resolve complex AP exceptions, including:
- PO and non-PO discrepancies
- Pricing and quantity issues
- System and integration challenges
- Maintain close control over AP aging, vendor balances, and exception trends
, proactively identifying risks - Play a key role in month‑end close
, including preparation, review, and validation of accruals - Ensure strong internal controls and compliance across a complex, multi-entity environment
- Lead and execute the annual 1099 process across multiple legal entities
- Train, mentor, and support AP staff while maintaining high standards for accuracy and professionalism
- Act as a trusted operational partner to internal stakeholders and vendors
- Support knowledge transfer and operational continuity during the transformation period (this role does not lead the transformation)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive Accounts Payable experience in complex, high‑volume environments
- 7+ years managing AP teams (Manager or Director level)
- Deep expertise in AP operations, internal controls, and accounting best practices
- Strong experience handling escalations, audits, and complex invoice issues requiring senior judgment
- Solid understanding of Travel & Expense (T&E) processes
- Proven ability to work with a large, diverse stakeholder group (40+ entities, multiple CFOs)
- Strong ERP experience
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and execution-focused
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
