Regulatory Counsel

The Regulatory Counsel is responsible for ensuring compliance with assigned federal, state, and local government laws and regulations as well as providing support to the Compliance Department.

Major Responsibilities
  • Manage regulatory compliance in assigned jurisdictions, including regulatory licenses, quality assurance for regulatory changes, new financial products and services, and existing financial products and services.
  • Oversee and participate in the state regulatory examination process by preparing and reviewing production, drafting regulatory correspondence, analyzing regulatory examination findings to determine the root cause of errors, and recommending and managing corrective and preventive courses of action.
  • Assist in the development of controls to implement compliance‑related changes, remediate past compliance violations, and avoid potential compliance violations as part of a team with the Information Systems (IS), Operations, Marketing, Product, and Legal Departments.
  • Manage assigned elements of the overall Compliance Management System, including, but not limited to, reviewing diligence materials, managing third‑party audits, monitoring trends, and implementing risk‑based review systems.
  • Review company product documents, communications, training, and advertising materials for regulatory compliance issues.
  • Enhance both District Manager and Internal Audit programs based upon issues that arise out of examinations, regulatory complaints, regulatory changes, new products, or other developments.
  • Assist in development and delivery of training to remediate compliance issues identified and to avoid future compliance violations.
  • Advise leadership on compliance trends and opportunities.
  • Assist in drafting and maintaining risk assessments, policies, and procedures.
  • Present virtually and/or in‑person on assigned compliance topics.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.
  • Organized; excellent communication skills, written and verbal; strong attention to detail; business acumen across all products and services and internal systems; ability to collaborate and build relationships with multiple departments; customer‑service oriented; manage shifting priorities with hard deadlines and multiple tasks with limited supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed attorney required.
  • 1‑3 years’ experience with regulatory compliance required.
  • CRCM certification is a plus.
  • Must be proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • SharePoint proficiency is a plus.

This is a full‑time position; days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT. This position might require after‑hours and weekend work.
