Application System Analyst II - IM Business
Location: Irving, TX
SummaryThe Application System Analyst II serves as a liaison between system end‑users (customers), operational leaders, additional support resources and vendors to design, build and optimize their assigned applications in a timely and high‑quality manner. The Analyst works closely with the Service Desk to respond to service requests, analyze business issues/requirements and workflows, apply application knowledge to meet operational and organizational needs, and implement medium to high‑complexity activities of assigned software with minimal guidance.
The role requires a self‑motivated individual with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills who can work well in team environments.
- Analyze, develop, test, document, educate, implement, support, and maintain or optimize assigned applications, solutions, and business processes.
- Collaborate across project borders with other teams and provide oversight and project management for assigned tasks.
- Utilize application training, web resources, and documentation to guide newer team members and continuously improve expertise.
- Identify opportunities to enhance customer usability, efficiency, and experience; represent user needs in system updates and enhancements.
- Conduct process and requirement analysis, including flow‑chart creation, gap analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
- Communicate complex design and configuration issues clearly to end users and stakeholders, and maintain relationships post‑engagement.
- Participate in strategy discussions, propose options with pros and cons, and make sound decisions under limited information.
- Adhere to organization standards for system configuration and change control.
- Maintain technical proficiency in application‑specific design, configuration, and independent analysis.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to standardize best‑practice workflows and content across ministries.
- Coordinate code changes with vendors for financial and business application issues.
- Identify and resolve infrastructure‑related application issues in collaboration with technical teams.
- Share industry best practices with operational leaders.
- Serve as a liaison between business operations, IT, users, and vendors to resolve issues and problems.
- Follow strict change management processes ensuring proper approval, testing, and validation of system changes.
- Document deliverables for end users and leadership consistently and attentively.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve moderate incidents and requests independently.
- Maintain high standards for quality of work for self and others, providing oversight and feedback on team deliverables.
- Manage medium‑complexity projects/requests, proactively evaluating new releases and functionality.
- Complete assigned courses within Health Stream or other tracking tools, and attend required presentations.
- Ensure services contributed to the department’s primary mission.
- Escalate SLA breaches or vendor issues when appropriate.
- Travel and work additional hours as necessary during critical problems.
- Assist in preparing and conducting formal or informal training sessions for users and co‑workers.
- Identify new opportunities, display a can‑do attitude, and handle tough issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred in healthcare, business, or information systems.
- Ability to present complex data meaningfully (e.g., charts, graphs).
- Adaptability to change.
- Strong problem‑solving and multitasking skills.
- Teamwork proficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills managing multiple priorities.
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years within healthcare, business, or information systems.
- Ability to solve moderate incidents independently.
- Develop new functionality for requests with little direction.
- Experience working in a team, sharing information and assisting junior teammates.
- Detailed healthcare knowledge and systems expertise.
- Ability to make decisions on routine cases.
- Independent judgment with minimal supervision, analyzing variable factors.
- Collaboration with senior team members to develop approaches and solutions.
- Mentoring and training of team members within own functional area.
- Associated certifications in area of focus preferred.
- For Epic Analysts:
- Certified or proficient in assigned Epic module (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
- Certifications or proficiencies must stay current through ongoing version training.
