Senior IT Field Engineer

Job Overview:
This position is responsible for providing management and direction to the Wireless Infrastructure and Communications Field Engineers in the design, installation, repair, and maintenance of the City's wireless infrastructure and communications systems and equipment. The role includes workflow management, performance monitoring of communications and electronics personnel, oversight of outside contractors, budget collaboration with the Division Chief, and participation in personnel recommendations, appointments, and evaluations.

Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing a periodic preventative maintenance program, providing technical assistance and training to all department users, managing contractor RFPs, negotiations, and deliverables, and maintaining accurate licensing and MOU documentation for FCC and agency compliance.

Supervisory Scope:
Supervise approximately five employees.

• • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with major coursework in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field.
• • Five years of experience with communications equipment and systems, including at least two years of supervisory experience.
• • NIMS 100‑200‑400‑700‑800 training (required).
• • CJIS criminal history check; must not have any criminal conviction above a Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years.

PAY GRADE IT28 / FULL PAY RANGE $8,173 - $11,524 PER MONTH
