Job DescriptionThe Pastry Cook supports the hotel restaurants and banquet department by providing fresh, creative pastry items for our guests.
Responsibilities- Knowledge of daily pastry orders and preparations.
- Ability to handle cakes that are ordered at the last minute.
- Help with Cooking Demos, Wedding Cakes, Sugar Sculptures, and Bakery.
- Prepare all food items according to standard recipes and/or as specified on guest orders to ensure consistency of product.
- Visually inspect, select and use only ingredients ideal for cooking, in the preparation of all menu items.
- Prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items for production.
- Use math skills to follow recipes.
- Résumé all equipment is clean and in working condition.
- Maintain the highest quality and appearance of all foods sent from kitchen and ensure plates/buffet presentations are clean and appetizing.
- Label and date all foods.
- Maintain a clean work station and ensure all areas are properly cleaned at the end of shift and evening.
- Recognize a deficiency with a dish and make necessary corrections.
- Measure and mix ingredients to form dough or batter.
- Shape dough for cookies, pies and pastries.
- Regulate oven temperatures for cooking.
- Prepare and cook ingredients for pie fillings, puddings, custards and other desserts.
- Mix ingredients for icing.
- Decorate cakes and pastries, blend sugar and icings.
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor.
- Keep floors dry and clean to avoid slip/fall accidents.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Ability to work jumbo-independent.
- Previous pastry experience required.
- Must be able to stand/walk for the entirety of an 8‑hour shift.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
