Overview
Position Summary: Provides assistance to the Allergy Department. Answers phone line dedicated to allergy patients. Independently manages patient needs related to basic allergy patient care, scheduling appointments, and insurance verification.
Responsibilities- Allergy Testing insurance verification
- Answer incoming allergy patient calls
- Make collection calls to the allergy patients that are on the mixing schedule and have not paid and those patients who have a high balance that are currently on treatment
- Verify that reminder calls for allergy test patients have been made and place those calls if they have not
- Schedule annual allergy follow-up appointments with the patient's provider that have not already been scheduled
- Scheduling allergy test referrals
- SLIT refill reminder calls
- Call allergy patients that have canceled appointments and have not rescheduled
- Documents telephone calls accurately in medical records
- Maintains patient confidentiality according to HIPAA rules
- Attends required training programs
- Maintains good relationships with allergy clinic staff, assists with requests and any questions that may come up
- Performs other duties as required or requested by management
- Performs all tasks and projects assigned by the Director
- Develop a daily workflow for downtime and clinical hours
- Clocks in/out appropriately
- Arrives to work on time
- High school education or GED equivalent
- Ability to communicate general patient instruction
- Possession of discipline to work in accordance with accepted clinical standards
- Compliance with all regulatory requirements including HIPAA
- Capable of dealing with patients and their family, employees, and providers tactfully, effectively, and professionally
- Proficient computer skills
- Knowledge of medical software/EHR/EMR systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to manage multiple tasks with interruptions

Maintains strict confidentiality and enjoys a team-oriented work environment to facilitate the smooth, efficient and professional care of the patient and performance of the office.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment is fast paced but professional and friendly. Work requires movement throughout the office, as well as sitting for periods of time. Position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a computer, telephone, calculator, copier and fine-motor tools related to hearing aid cleaning. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work with high concentration.
Work is performed in an office environment. The employee must be comfortable asking patients for money. Work requires excellent communication skills. Interaction with others is constant and may be interruptive.
Position is fully remote but occasional travel to office location for training and team meetings.
