Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining financial models and analyses of financial and operational metrics to evaluate business performance and project the financial outlook. This includes the tools and processes to support the long‑range planning process, the annual budget process, as well as monthly, quarterly and annual business forecasts and day‑to‑day decision making.
This role reports to the VP of FP&A and has one direct report.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create reports and analytical tools that aid management decision making, track key KPIs, provide compelling insight to the business and result in operational improvements.
- Continuously improve the annual budget, reporting and incentive plan processes. Establish timelines, coordinate and lead the organizational budget process. Serve as point of contact and subject‑matter expert on budgets, variance reporting and forecasting.
- Lead the S&OP process to develop comprehensive financial outlooks with clear actions, owners and timelines to address obstacles.
- Motivate the team toward achieving common goals, promote teamwork and cohesion with a focus on speed, accuracy and continuous improvement to drive financial results.
- Communicate plans, reports, ideas and concepts to the organization and keep clear alignment with cross‑functional leadership.
- Financial and business acumen: understand P&L and balance sheet, interface with Sales, Marketing and Operations and help interpret business results to drive decision‑making.
- Planning: develop and implement budgeting and forecasting models to support cost containment measures, improve fixed leverage and optimise variable costs to achieve desired business results.
- Presentation ability: prepare and present detailed financial results to team members at various levels within the organization.
- Problem solving: solve, scale and sustain opportunities that meet financial and procedural expectations. Use teamwork to maximise results.
- Team development: develop team members through mutually agreed growth plans.
Qualifications &
Education:
- Strong leadership skills, motivate the team toward accomplishing common goals and promote teamwork and cohesion with a focus on speed, accuracy and continuous improvement.
- Effective visionary leader that translates company values, culture, strategy and goals. Communicate plans, reports, ideas and concepts clearly.
- Financial and business acumen: understand P&L and balance sheet, interface with different areas of the business (Sales and Operations) and help interpret business results to drive decision‑making.
- Planning: experienced with budgeting and forecasting models to support fixed and variable costs to achieve desired business results.
- Analysis: interpret data trends, forecast sales, expenses, balance sheet, and cash flows; align with cross‑functional leadership to prepare and manage detailed annual business plans.
- Presentation: prepare and present detailed financial results to team members at various levels within the organization.
- Problem solving: solve, scale and sustain opportunities that meet financial and procedural expectations. Use teamwork to maximise results.
- Team development: develop team members through mutually agreed growth plans.
- 7+ years of related experience; CPG and manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Office environment usually quiet.
- Required to manoeuvre plant and warehouse work spaces: frequently standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing; work around loud machinery and moving parts.
- Continually utilise hand and finger dexterity; exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold, wet and/or humid conditions (non‑weather).
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds safely.
