SUMMARYSuperintendents are responsible for overseeing and managing the completion of projects. They play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective execution of jobs and tasks. The superintendent is an integral part of the company field operations. Minute by minute communication with dispatch, job Forman and crews. A complete understanding of the schedule and what is needed for the day, must have the ability to multitask, getting instructions to the people that need them, timely.
This is deemed a safety sensitive position.
- Prioritize and enforce strict safety protocols to ensure the well-being of crew members, equipment operators, and other personnel. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to mitigate potential hazards and maintain a safe work environment.
- Ensure foremen have and are completing daily pre tasks meeting and or track JSA’s as needed for the job.
- Making sure crews are arriving at customer facilities as expected with the proper tools and equipment needed to complete the job.
- Assist crews in gathering additional or extra tools needed for the job.
- Collaborate with project managers, sales, and dispatch to develop plans, including load requirements, equipment specifications, lifting points, site conditions and crew availability.
- Oversee the inspection, maintenance and repair of equipment, slings, cables, chains, shackles, hooks and lifting devices.
- Ensuring DOT compliance, manufacturer recommendations and industry regulations.
- Lead a team of riggers, signal persons, and crane operators. Delegate tasks, provide guidance, and ensure that work is carried out according to established procedures and industry standards.
- Superintendent should have several years of experience working in rigging operations, with a strong background in machinery moving, construction, industrial settings, or maritime environments.
- In-depth understanding of rigging techniques, equipment, and best practices. Familiarity with crane operations, load calculations, and lift planning is essential.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols, regulations, and the ability to implement safety measures effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse workforce.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey instructions, provide feedback, and interact with various stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise during rigging operations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and maintain accurate documentation.
