A client of The Intersect Group is seeking a Sr. Staff Accountant to join the Merchandise Accounting team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely processing of wholesale payables, supporting financial integrity across multiple offices and time zones.

As a key contributor, you will manage invoice processing, vendor communications, and month-end close activities while collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and review wholesale vendor invoices to ensure accuracy and timely payment.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding invoice inquiries, payment status, and discrepancies.
  • Research and resolve vendor and store operator inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries and perform general ledger reviews.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising, Logistics, and other teams to resolve issues and streamline workflows.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on payables and month-end close processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in major ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze payables data and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to work independently and adapt to a decentralized team structure.
