Position

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Advanced Practice Occupational Therapist within our Neurodiverse CAMHS (N-CAMHS) team based at West Road, Irvine. Hybrid Working will be considered.

Job Purpose

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering high quality, person-centred care within a specialist mental health service. This role is pivotal in leading and shaping occupational therapy practice and supporting service development across the care pathway.

Main Tasks, Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced clinical expertise in occupational therapy assessment, intervention, and evaluations for individuals with complex mental health needs including those with co-occurring neurodevelopmental conditions. This includes undertaking and contributing to neurodevelopmental assessments to support diagnostic formulation and care planning.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of evidence based occupational therapy models and approaches within the service.
  • Act as a clinical role model and provide supervision, mentorship, and support to occupational therapy staff and students.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care planning and delivery.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, audit, and research to enhance clinical outcomes and patient experience.
  • Support strategic planning and workforce development, aligning occupational therapy with national and local priorities.
  • Maintain professional standards and ensure compliance with regulatory and governance frameworks.
Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job
  • BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
  • Requires to have post graduate training in relevant speciality, or experience equivalent to a Masters Level. This would include inpatient and outpatient experience, and would also include membership of Royal College of Occupational Therapy Special Interest Groups
  • Must have substantial and varied clinical experience of working in a relevant speciality at an advanced level.
  • Current Health and Care Professions Council Registration
Hours

37 per week, Monday to Friday.

From 1 April 2026

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
