Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Domestic Assistant within our Domestic Services Department based at Ayrshire Central Hospital.

Hours

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

14.8 hours per week. Monday – Friday 4.30pm – 7.30pm

This role is offered on a permanent basis

What you will do

Working within the Domestic Services Department you will undertake a variety of housekeeping/cleaning duties which are carried out to a high standard. Full training will be provided.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job
  • Experience with industrial cleaning equipment or working within a healthcare setting, especially mental health areas, would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given. The ability to work on both your own initiative and as part of a team and good communication skills are essential.
  • Applicants should be physically fit, understand the importance of cleanliness in a healthcare environment and be flexible in regard to areas worked with in Woodland View (Adult Mental Health wards) and Ayrshire Central Hospital and the North clinics where priorities can change due to staffing and activity.
  • Compulsory that any new staff to Ayrshire and Arran complete Corporate Induction followed by local induction.
