Overview
The City of Irvine seeks experienced individuals to monitor the use of swimming pools and facilities, perform rescues of persons in distress, assist with daily facility operations, camps, recreation programs and special events, and coordinate and teach swim and water safety lessons. Part-time positions with flexible scheduling are available during the core hours of Monday–Sunday, 5:15 a.m.–10:30 p.m.
Responsibilities- Monitor pool and facility use and enforce safety rules.
- Perform rescues and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Assist with daily facility operations, camps, recreation programs, and special events.
- Coordinate and teach swim and water safety lessons.
- Part-time Lifeguard: at least 15 years old.
- Part-time Senior Lifeguard/Swim Instructor: at least 16 years old.
- Interest in aquatics or recreation and some experience working with children.
- There are multiple Part-time positions available.
Lifeguard: $21.02 – $24.45 per hour. Senior Lifeguard/Swim Instructor: $22.09 – $29.02 per hour. Seasonal assignments may work as needed during seasonal periods.

Interview: candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to an interview after a thorough review of applications. Background check and medical examination (including drug/alcohol screening and proof of negative TB) are required. The City of Irvine maintains a drug-free workplace. Applicants who test positive or tamper with evidence shall be disqualified.
This recruitment may be used to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications. Part-time employees are employed "at will" and may be terminated without cause. Some budgets may not include funding for CalPERS employer contributions; current CalPERS members may be restricted from temporary/part-time employment.
