Westcliff Athletics is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and competes in the California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac). Westcliff Athletics is a growing program, currently sponsoring the following intercollegiate sports:

Position Title:

Sports Medicine - Athletic Trainer

Director of Athletics Qualifications

Experience:

2+ years preferred

Education: Master’s Degree Required

Certification/Licenses: Must be BOC certified, current CPR/AED certification, NATA Membership preferred

Skills and Abilities

Applied Knowledge:
Athletic trainers must be knowledgeable about risk reduction, wellness and health literacy; assessment, evaluation and diagnosis of injuries and illnesses; critical incident management; therapeutic intervention and healthcare administration and professional responsibility.

Decision-Making

Skills:

Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play decisions.

Attention to Detail:
Athletic trainers should be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation.

Interpersonal

Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff, and families.

Must be able to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.

Specific Duties
  • The Sports Medicine Team is essential in supporting the health and performance of the Westcliff student-athletes while contributing to the excellence of the athletic programs.
  • Adhere to Westcliff University, Westcliff University Athletics, California Pacific Conference and NAIA policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of departmental activities, sports schedules and procedures.
  • Foster cooperative relationships with fellow staff members within the department.
  • Support the athletic department goals and philosophies as described by the Director of Athletics and work to achieve and uphold the department's mission statement and core values.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward performing job duties and in working with other staff members.
  • Exhibit professional decorum during working hours.
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments and at various times of the day, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proficient in computer skills
  • CPR/AED certified and current membership with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) are required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the organization and supervision of student-athletes in all sports, with primary sports responsibility will be determined by the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine
