As a Software Automation Engineer at Rivian Volkswagen Group Technologies, you’ll be pivotal in ensuring the delivery of robust, high‑quality connected vehicle features through comprehensive test automation. You will primarily focus on creating and maintaining Python‑based automated test suites for a variety of testing levels, from functionality to performance and stress tests, while also building and maintaining automation test benches. Collaborating closely with firmware, cloud, Dev Ops, and development teams, you'll enhance test coverage, integrate with CI/CD pipelines, and drive quality improvements.

Your expertise in automation frameworks (like Py Wind or Appium) and IoT/telematics systems will directly contribute to the reliability and innovation of Rivian Volkswagen Group Technologies’ cutting‑edge connectivity platform, leveraging data analytics for actionable insights.

• Create and maintain automated test suites/cases for connectivity system functions for various levels of testing from functionality to performance and stress tests

  Write and maintain common test libraries, utilities in Python test framework

• Automate the testing of connected vehicle systems to prevent software failures and ensure quality in every new release.

• Build and maintain automation test benches and test runs

• Interface with dev ops team to enable continuous integration and test

• Generate software test requirements and use requirement management tools

• Compile test data to demonstrate the automation software meets the specified requirements

• Develop reports and dashboards to track quality Realty improvements

• Ability to work closely with firmware, cloud, and validation teams.

• Experience authoring and reviewing test plans, automation strategy, and release readiness criteria.

• Drive quality improvements by identifying regressions and reporting high‑quality bug reports.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer or Software Engineering, or related field

• 2+ years of relevant industry experience, with 1+ years of test automation experience in Python

• Experience with Pytest, Appium or other automation frameworks Régions tools

• Experience with Agile software development methodologies

• Priere experience in IOT, telematics or Wireless systems

• Familiarity with vehicle connectivity protocols (MQTT, gRPC, REST, TCP/UDP, UDS).

• Working‑level knowledge of Linux systems to include benchmarking and resource characterization; be comfortable with the Linux CLI

• Automation experience in embedded software, automotive field a big plus

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $116,300 - $183,600 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full‑time and part‑time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part‑Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.

Total compensation packages for this position include base salary, eligibility for an annual performance bonus, and eligibility for equity.
