As we develop a fully integrated experience in our R1 and future vehicle lines, we need Software Engineers to raise the bar for mission‑critical in‑vehicle applications. Our diverse team shares an innate curiosity, a desire to see things differently, and a passion for getting things done.

• Develop best‑in‑class applications for the in‑vehicle user experience, focusing on mission‑critical user interfaces.
• Create progressive, intuitive, and reliable applications for the Rivian in‑vehicle experience.
• Collaborate with the UX/UI and Studio teams to realize beautiful, cutting‑edge UI and seamless integration with 2D and 3D content.
• Test the in‑vehicle experience in the lab and in Rivian prototype vehicles.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues found during testing.
• Help drive research into new technologies and interfaces.
• Collaborate with other divisions to understand and share technology roadmaps, portfolios, and intellectual property.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience through the entire software development life cycle.
• 6+ years of experience with modern object‑oriented languages: C++ and/or Rust.
• Knowledge of functional safety requirements, regulatory compliance, and best practices for automotive software development.
• Experience with Java/Kotlin is a plus.
• Experience with Android application frameworks is a plus.
• Deep understanding of user‑friendly, immersive, reactive UI development.
• Proficiency in authoring animations and interactive experiences is a plus.
• Experience with Qt framework is a plus.

Salary ranges (subject to experience, location, and other factors permitted by law):

  Palo Alto – $186,000 – $232,000 USD.
• Location:
  
  Irvine – $171,000 – $213,000 USD.

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental, and vision insurance packages for full‑time and part‑time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment for full‑time employees and the first of the following month for part‑time employees after 90 days.
