Software Engineer
Overview
MTS II, Software – Panasonic Avionics Corporation – San Diego, CA (Irvine). This role is located at our new global headquarters in Irvine, CA near John Wayne Airport in the Park Place development. Responsibilities- Assist in research, development and maintenance of real‑time/embedded software including low‑level development.
- OS/Kernel configuration for Linux/VxWorks (BSP) across multiple hardware architectures and verify hardware through software.
- Develop in C/C++, hardware device drivers, networked client‑server applications, database‑driven applications and network security methodologies.
- Plan, design, modify and implement software applications from functional and system design specifications.
- Code, integrate, test, debug and refine software to produce required products.
- Develop software tools and subsystems to support software development, test and reuse.
- Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency and robustness.
- Review, evaluate and analyze design interfaces.
- Prepare, review and evaluate interface documentation, specifications, test plans and procedures.
- Assist in definition, analysis and allocation of requirements.
- Support system test programs and analyze system testing results.
- Maintain the developed software efficiently through familiarity with software life cycles.
- Document designs in engineering documents including functional block diagrams and data/logic flow charts.
- Assist in troubleshooting and debugging of designs.

Education / Experience Requirements- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 0-3 years of work experience.
- C/C++ programming experience in Linux environment including TCP/IP network programming and device drivers is a must.
- Familiarity with network security methodologies a plus.
- Prior experience with multimedia application development including streaming audio/video servers and clients highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and make efficient use of given resources.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a small‑team setting and interface with customers.
- Professional concepts and company policies for routine issue resolution.
- Analysis and planning of engineering activities to perform assigned tasks.
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally up to 5% of the time.
