What You Will Be DoingThe position will be based in Irvine, CA.
Position PurposeAlbertson’s Irvine Distribution Center has an opening for an individual qualified to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on material‑handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and more. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical and electrical knowledge and skills, be able to read schematics, and be familiar with the usage of ohmmeters.
Competitive WagesThe hourly rate for this role is between $33.80 and $37.56 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on location, experience, qualifications, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair material‑handling equipment such as battery‑powered pallet‑jacks and forklifts.
- Remove and replace both DC and some AC electric motors.
- Change out bearings; replace brushes; repair and replace bushings; clean, adjust, and repair solid‑state and electric control panels; overhaul, repair and adjust differentials and hydraulic assemblies.
- Change out industrial forklift batteries.
- Maintain complete repair order records.
- Follow company procedures and ensure a safe work environment.
- Perform all job duties with honesty and integrity.
- Must be willing to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and graveyard shift.
- Possess at least three years of experience or training in equipment maintenance. Must provide own tools.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently; possess manual dexterity, coordination, and balance for ground level and high‑level work; operate power equipment, hand tools, forklifts, pallet jacks, and diagnostic equipment.
- Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities; learn and follow company and distribution center policies regarding safe operation of forklifts and pallet jacks, maintenance‑related power equipment, hand tools, paperwork procedures, and hazard labeling.
- Most work is performed under typical warehouse conditions with exposure to high voltage, welding equipment, lubricants, solvents, and varying temperatures from 80°F to –20°F; personal protective equipment is provided; noise exposure is within normal warehouse expectations.
