Cook – California Fish Grill

Locations:

Salary: $16.50-$22.00 (minimum $16.50)

Responsibilities
  • Prepares or directs preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems.
  • Determines amount and type of food and supplies required.
  • Ensures availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation.
  • Sets steam table.
  • Serves or ensures proper serving of food for tray line or dining.
  • Complies with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health; observes proper food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Stores food properly and safely, marking date and time.
  • Reports necessary equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours to maintain quality, temperature, and appearance.
  • Apportions food for service.
  • Maintains daily production.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean at all times (including dishwashing).
  • Cleans and maintains equipment used in food service.
  • Completes food temperature checks before serving.
  • Completes requirements for in‑service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
General Responsibilities

  • Cooperates with and implements safety, fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security procedures.
  • Reports and corrects unsafe working conditions; maintains equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all data, including food.
  • Ensures Quality Assurance and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provides a work environment free from sexual harassment and discrimination.
  • Supports teamwork: cooperates with co‑workers, plans and completes duties with minimal supervision.
  • Uses tactful communication in sensitive situations.
  • Follows up appropriately with supervisors, co‑workers, or residents regarding reported complaints and problems.
  • Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members, and others.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and 2‑3 years related work experience or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Prior experience in related food service positions.
  • Valid Serv Safe® or other approved Food Handler Certification.
  • High level of integrity and honesty.
Additional Requirements

When warranted, may be required to work beyond normal working hours to meet customer needs or restaurant requirements.

Must maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate kitchen equipment: oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer, chef’s knives.

Ability to perform multiple tasks, frequent standing, reaching, stooping, and maintain composure under urgent and pressure situations.
