We are seeking a Quality Lead to perform hands-on quality inspections while coordinating day-to-day quality activities on the production floor. This position works directly alongside Quality Inspectors and Incoming Quality Inspectors and serves as the primary technical point of contact between the inspection team and the Quality Control Supervisor.
The Quality Lead is expected to have a working-level mastery of incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and final FAT activities, and to spend a significant portion of time physically conducting inspections and tests. This role provides real-time guidance, ensures consistent application of inspection standards, and supports rapid resolution of quality issues.
Hourly Range: $26.00–$30.00 per hour (non-exempt, overtime eligible)
Duties/Responsibilities- Perform hands-on inspections, including incoming inspection, in-process checks, and final FAT activities.
- Work directly alongside inspectors to ensure inspections are executed correctly and consistently.
- Serve as the first point of contact for Quality Inspectors and Incoming Quality Inspectors during assigned shifts.
- Coordinate daily inspection activities to support production schedules and shipment commitments.
- Ensure inspections are performed in accordance with approved procedures, drawings, test plans, and customer requirements.
- Review inspection results, test data, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify, document, and escalate non-conformances to the Quality Control Supervisor and cross-functional teams.
- Support containment, sorting, re-inspection, and verification activities for non-conforming materials or assemblies.
- Provide hands-on training and technical guidance to inspectors on inspection methods, tools, and standards.
- Monitor compliance with ESD, PPE, and safety requirements within inspection areas.
- Support internal audits, customer audits, and witness FAT activities as required.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection processes and documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support quality and operational objectives.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in electronics, manufacturing, or quality inspection preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly quality environment.
- Proven experience performing hands-on inspection activities, including incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and final FAT.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and test procedures.
- Hands-on experience using inspection and test tools such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and related measurement devices.
- Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to provide real-time technical guidance and lead inspectors through direct participation.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for inspection documentation.
- Prior experience in a Lead Inspector or Senior Inspector role.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or telecom manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, IPC-A-610, or AS9102.
- Experience supporting customer or third-party witness inspections and audits.
- Experience with RF or electromechanical system inspections.
- Certification in IPC-A-610 or equivalent quality inspection standards.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (8–10 hours per shift) while performing inspections.
- Manual dexterity for detailed inspection and test activities involving small components.
- Visual acuity to inspect intricate parts and read technical documentation and labels.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs as required.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and ESD protection.
