Under supervision, performs a variety of grounds maintenance and repair functions including but not limited to: litter pickup, cultivating, trimming of shrubs and small trees, fertilizing, planting and irrigation repairs. Operates grounds power tools and machinery.

Facilities Management supports the campus mission by creating a physical environment that allows our students, faculty and staff to thrive. Our goal is to provide safe, reliable and clean spaces through high quality maintenance, operation, planning and renovation services for our 1,475-acre main campus. We accomplish this with our dedicated skilled staff who strive to provide excellent customer service and responsiveness.

Required:

• Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing or electronically.
• Apply problem solving skills and use sound judgment.
• Knowledge and ability to maintain irrigation systems.
• Skill in operating trenchers, tractors, roto-tillers and other commonly used pieces of powered grounds equipment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of commonly used Southern California plant material, their cultural requirements, pests and diseases.
• Ability to effectively work independently or in teams.
• Skill to safely use both hand and power tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow through and carry out assignments.
• Ability to identify undesirable plant material.
• Knowledge and skill to operate commonly used grounds equipment and tools.
• This position requires a valid California driver s license.

Preferred:

• Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish, orally and in writing (or electronically).

Driver s License:

• Required to hold a valid driver s license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $23.17- $25.62 (Hourly).
