Overview

Blue Pearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team.

Responsibilities
  • As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  • Utilize the ability to place peripheral intravenous catheters in the cephalic vein.
  • Perform physical exams; accurately count heart rate, pulse, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
  • Understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormal.
  • Set up intravenous fluids and administer subcutaneous fluids.
  • Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
  • Able to disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
  • Monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.
Qualifications
  • Minimum two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital preferred.
  • A rotating on-call schedule is required once training is completed.
Compensation & Schedule

RVT Pay: $24.50 - $47.05/hour

Schedule: Wednesday – Saturday

Note: This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system. We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked at nights and on weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

Examples:
Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential;
Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00;
Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50.
