Overview
The Education Coordinator II (Nurse Educator II) builds on the Educational Coordinator I role and serves as the educational resource for the assigned service line. The role assesses the educational needs of the area and provides in-service training, classes, on-line modules, and other educational materials to achieve educational goals. It supports quality indicators and participates in re-certification activities as appropriate for the service line.
Responsibilities- Lead teams in implementing changes aimed at improving patient outcomes.
- Guide staff in solving complex patient care problems and plan for the growth and development of clinical staff and assigned departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- HVI:
Act as the lead for education for all Cardiac Surgeries and ensure practices align with hospital goals, policies, guidelines, and current best practice. - Collaborate with Cardiac Physicians, Intensivists, HVI Director, CCU/CVICU Director, Telemetry Director, CVOR Manager, and Registered Nurses to ensure effective and efficient program management.
- Train and orient staff, develop competencies, and mentor clinical staff in care of Cardiac Surgery Patients; provide managers with performance feedback and improvement recommendations.
- Assist with policy and procedure development, guidelines, delegation protocols, and implementation of standardized procedures; contribute to order set development and EMR documentation.
Education and Experience
- MSN required.
- Minimum of four (4) years clinical experience in the specialty required.
- Experience with PowerPoint and presentation technology required.
- HVI:
Minimum four (4) years experience with Cardiovascular Surgery.
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of California – Current and in good standing.
- Specialty Certification required.
- BLS
- Critical Care, Telemetry, Brain and Stroke Unit: ACLS required
- Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS required
- Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI): ACLS required
- Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, NICU: NRP required
- Operating Room: CNOR required
- HVI: ACLS
- Emergency Department: AHA Instructor status and MICN preferred
- Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI): AHA Instructor status preferred
- HVI: CSC
