American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring Level I trauma and general OR experience with bariatric, neuro, ortho, plastic, transplant, urology, and trauma case skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a large hospital operating room with 23 OR suites
- Level I trauma center with a wide range of surgical service lines except CV
- Day shift, 4x10 hour schedule from 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM
- Weekend coverage required one weekend per month
- On-call duty required approximately once per week
- May float to other units or affiliated hospitals as needed, though rarely outside skill set
- Cerner EMR is used; experience preferred
- Scrubs are provided
- Handle a broad surgical caseload including general, bariatric, neuro, ortho, plastic, transplant, urology, and trauma procedures
- Participate in code response, fire safety, latex allergy management, malignant hyperthermia management, infection control, radiation safety, blood product administration, and specimen handling
- Adhere to universal protocol (Time Out) and urinary bladder catheterization procedures
- Required to participate in holiday coverage for at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Parking permit provided at no cost with orientation
- Requested time off must be reviewed by management; up to 5 non-holiday days auto‑approved
- All mandatory training modules completed virtually on the first day
- Active IL RN license in hand or proof of application at time of consideration
- Minimum 3 years of recent operating room experience required
- Level I trauma nursing experience required
- General OR and trauma case experience with bariatric (laparoscopic), neuro, ortho, plastic, transplant, urology, and trauma skills required
- Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables required
- BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- No first‑time travelers accepted
- Former permanent or PRN employees must have a 12‑month break before applying
