As part of the Interventional Radiology team at Hoag Memorial Hospital, you will provide safe high quality nursing care to out-patients, in-patients, and emergency room patients requiring image guided procedures. Nursing care is delivered per the California Nurse Practice Act, in support of the mission of the Patient Care Services Division. Hoag Clinical Nurses serve our communities using research and evidence-based outcomes, collaborating with numerous specialized acute care teams, ensuring the highest level of care is delivered to those who depend on us.
Responsibilities- Provide IV sedation and monitor patients receiving general anesthesia.
- Patients may be acute or chronic, assisting our providers perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- A fast-paced environment with inpatient, outpatient, and ED procedures.
- Role requires the Clinical Nurse to perform peri and post operative assessment and monitoring prior to next level of care or discharge.
- Provide Nursing support on-call and off hours.
- Maintain existing department culture, this includes team members who prioritize patient safety, deliver high quality assertive nursing care, while maintaining Hoag’s Code of Conduct.
- Assessing and documenting a complete physical assessment, nursing interventions, and teaching and discharge needs for patients assigned to each shift, utilizing documentation guidelines, Standards of Care and Pathway goals.
- Communicating changes in the patient's condition to the Charge Nurse/Technologists and the provider performing the procedure.
- Responding to emergency situations in a timeframe appropriate to the needs of each patient.
- Administering medications and intravenous therapy with the ability to assess the appropriate indication dosing and effects of the medication administered.
- A constant focus and drive to improve outcomes and experience for our patients, families, referrers, staff and providers.
Education and Experience
Clinical Nurse I’s at Magnet designated facilities only require a BSN or that a BSN program is started within one year of hire date and BSN degree is attained within two years of the starting the BSN program. BSN preferred.
Experience with Critical Care, ED, and/or recovery areas like PACU, GI, etc. is preferred.
Additional Requirements For Specific Departments Are As Follows- NB Interventional Radiology, CT, Magnetic Resonance, Ultrasound, Main X-Ray:
Interventional Radiology experience preferred. HHI Main X-Ray:
Interventional Radiology and/or vascular access experience preferred. PICC Services:
Ultrasound guided vascular access experience is preferred.
Registered Nurse in the State of California - Current and in good standing.
Certifications Required- All Clinical Nurse I's are required to have current BLS certification prior to clinical rotation.
- HHNB Interventional Radiology, CT Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Main X-Ray: ACLS certification is required. PALS certification is required within 6 months of hire/transfer to department. NIHSS certification is required within 30 days of hire/transfer to department. Completes annual stroke education per organization requirements.
- PICC Services: ACLS certification is required.
- HHI Main X-Ray: ACLS certification is required.
- Hoag Imaging Center Newport Beach: ACLS Certification is required.
- HHNB Interventional Radiology, CT Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Main X-Ray: CRN (Certified Radiology Nurse) is preferred.
- Experience with IV sedation, peri-operative nursing care, Interventional Stroke procedures, Interventional Oncologic procedures, ultrasound guided IV.
