YourRole on the Team
The position of Nurse Practitioner II in the Department of Neurology requires a highly competent, independent yet team-oriented individual who will be immersed in Neurology s Cerebrovascular and Neuro-Hospitalist Division. Under the supervision of an Attending Faculty and guided by the applicable policies and procedures, the Nurse Practitioner will participate in the comprehensive care of patients in the ambulatory or inpatient settings and provide multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians.
A Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who possesses the advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills and experience necessary to provide advanced nursing care in their area of specialization. The APP will be seeing a population of patients in a fast paced outpatient clinical environment. In addition, the APP will also work with the family of the patient to ensure that aftercare will be appropriate.
The location will be for Irvine Hospital site.
Required:
- Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
- Ability to exercise diplomacy and flexibility in interacting with physicians, nurses, other paramedical personnel, administrators, emergency and law enforcement officers.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Skill to clearly communicate medical information to a broad variety of people, both in person and over the telephone.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Writing skills to prepare clear medical reports, laboratory data and progress notes. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
- Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. Educational training and/or experience to support setting and patient population.
- Graduate of an accredited Master s Degree program as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
- Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
- NP National Board Certification
- Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and DEA registration
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Adult - Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Certified
- At least 1-2 years Neurology experience as NP
Preferred:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a fast-paced outpatient setting working with elderly patients and families.
