YourRole on the Team
The Nurse Practitioner II delivers advanced nursing care in the inpatient setting at UCI Medical Center Douglas Hospital. Under the supervision of the Medical Director(s) and the Nurse Practitioner Supervisor, the NP:
- Delivers comprehensive patient assessment, treatment, education, and monitoring.
- Coordinates multidisciplinary care and communicates with patients, families, and referring physicians.
- Manages chronic stable medical conditions and acute or critical care as appropriate to scope of practice.
- Ensures adherence to state statutes and institutional policies.
- Maintains credentialing and privilege status before first working day.
- Meets with supervising physicians to evaluate performance and receive feedback.
Hourly: USD 85.48 – 117.33. Additional benefits include medical insurance, paid sick and vacation time, retirement savings plans, and a range of discounts and perks.
Required- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
- Diplomacy and flexibility when interacting with physicians, nurses, paramedical personnel, administrators, and emergency/law enforcement officers.
- Customer service skills appropriate to the job.
- Clear communication of medical information, in person and over the phone.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Writing skills to prepare clear medical reports, laboratory data and progress notes; maintain a workload‑appropriate pace.
- Skill, knowledge, and ability essential for successful performance of assigned duties.
- Ability to be trained in the use of specialized medical equipment and procedures.
- Understanding of and adherence to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies related to PHI or other sensitive information.
- Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Educational training and/or experience supporting patient population.
- Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
- Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
- Current, active, unrestricted Physician or DEA registration.
- NP National Board Certification:
Adult Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP‑BC) or ACNPC‑AG. - Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Certification (ACONP) and/or ONS Chemotherapy Certification (obtained within 3 months of hire).
- Hematology/Oncology experience (≥2 years).
- Inpatient and/or acute care experience (≥2 years).
- Experience with clinical trial patient participation.
- Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges before hire.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
