Responsibilities- Feed press sheets at the feed station of a sheetfed offset press with minimum trips.
- Ensure that the proper ink and coatings are being used.
- Track all paper that is consumed for a given job.
- Ensure that all unused paper is returned to warehouse.
- Report any unsafe acts to pressmen or lead pressmen on your shift.
- Troubleshoot any feed station or paper‑related issues.
- Assist the pressmen during make‑readies.
- Keep press at 5S standards.
- Complete other duties assigned by pressmen or pressroom lead.
- Willing to learn other aspects of press operations.
- Follow all GPI safety rules and procedures.
- Maintain GPI quality standards.
- Set‑up and operate feed stations on all sheetfed presses.
- Assist in all make‑ready functions.
- Follow directions and train new members in the pressroom.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoot press feeding issues and resolve.
- Willing to learn the RFGen/SAP system.
- Keep press department leads and manager informed of needed machine repairs.
- Follow all department and GPI procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Union environment; must be willing to work all shifts.
- Follow all plant rules, processes, hygiene, and allergen procedures related to production of safe quality foods.
- Report to a person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions that may result in unsafe foods or non‑compliance to SQF related procedures.
- Participate in SQF root cause and corrective actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
- Follow all procedures related to producing safe quality foods (SQF).
- Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum of 3 months printing experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
- Must complete RCRA training to properly handle any hazardous waste produced in the printing process.
- Duties require standing (except breaks and lunch) for 8 to 12 hours with little lower body movement.
- Visual acuity at short distances to detect variances in job numbers, register and bleeder marks.
- Color vision needed to detect inappropriate color of product.
- Good eye/hand coordination to keep pace with machine speed.
- Able to lift 25‑35 lb boxes continuously and 50 lbs occasionally.
- Occasional climbing, stooping, bending and overhead reaching.
- Fine hand manipulation.
