Position Summary
Ultrasonic Trainee – an entry‑level role for individuals interested in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) who have not yet achieved certification. The trainee receives practical experience under the direct supervision of a certified UT inspector in accordance with applicable procedures, standards, and company policies. The trainee is not permitted to conduct independent examinations, make accept/reject determinations, or perform any other NDT function without a certified inspector.
The goal is to gain foundational knowledge, technical skills, and hands‑on experience that qualify the trainee for future certification after one year of employment, 400 on‑the‑job hours, and passing the Ultrasonic test.
- Conduct regular and complex testing under supervision of material or product.
- Examine products for possible internal or external defects.
- Prepare material for examination by cleaning, identifying, setting up, etc.
- Read or interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and scanning procedures for ultrasonic setups, tests, and report preparation.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Operate all instruments and test systems.
- Read technical and mill instructions.
- Undergo written and practical examinations after acquiring 400 hours of on‑the‑job experience.
- Upon passing, reach Level I certification.
- Follow written instructions in techniques and methods.
- Use Microsoft Office 365.
- Use Windows.
- Basic computer skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with root cause analysis, ultrasonic experience, aerospace material, engineering/quality specifications, and programming capabilities.
- NDT UT formal training (40 hours for Level I).
Work schedule:
Friday–Sunday, 6 am–7 pm.
Salary Range: $23.00–$28.00 per hour.
