Position SummaryYou are instrumental in fulfilling our mission: “Enabling Engineering Breakthroughs that Lead to a Better Tomorrow.” As a member of our team, you contribute to developing innovative technologies and products, significantly contributing to Parker’s goal of addressing the world’s most pressing engineering challenges.
Operate two or more production machines working from blueprints, sketches, and route sheets. Contribute to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs. Work with general guidance in a team environment.
Essential Functions- Set up and run production machines, performing operations such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming parts with pre‑planned tooling and sequences.
- Make necessary machine adjustments and report improper functioning or cutting action for correction.
- Perform tapping, spot‑facing, chamfering, countersinking, and counterboring to close tolerances.
- Align and fasten parts using standard fixtures and established methods.
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to achieve machine quality parts per documentation.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks, or other irregularities from machined parts.
- Inspect parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments, gauges, and comparators; visually inspect for burrs and damaged surfaces.
- Maintain equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability.
- Accurately and regularly perform all statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirements.
- Actively participate in lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.
- Observe all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Perform other related responsibilities as requested.
- Two years related machining experience.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
- Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
- Effective application of lean initiatives.
- Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
- Interpreting reports and using job‑specific software applications, including employee self‑service systems and specialized automated systems.
- Demonstrated teamwork competencies and participation in goal setting, performance feedback, and self‑development activities.
Walk, stand, and sit for extended periods. Demonstrate manual dexterity and use hands to operate machinery. Close vision is required. Regular attendance and cooperative, professional working with others is expected. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
