Overview
Under minimal supervision, set up and operate CNC (computer numerically controlled) machinery to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts. This role utilizes Swiss CNC machines extensively.
Responsibilities- Be adept in Swiss CNC machining.
- Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Read and interpret blueprints and solid models.
- Properly and safely load and unload raw materials in CNC machinery.
- Use gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
- Independently set up, operate, and troubleshoot multi-axis machines, including CNC lathes, mills, mill-turn, and Swiss machines.
- Reduce setup time and machining time through process improvements.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Haas controls.
- Understand, interpret, and edit G-code programming.
- Recognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
- Understand and perform tool wear offsets.
- Perform daily and routine cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Must own tools required to perform basic measuring tasks, including micrometers, dial indicators, height gages, and miscellaneous hand tools.
Position requires contact primarily within the department on routine matters. Contact outside the department within the company is minimal.
Reasoning Ability- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- High School education or Equivalent.
- Certificate (Trade school) Helpful.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mechanical or electrical assembly processes.
Comprehension of the English language necessary. Must have ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, blueprints, ISO 9001 Assembly Procedures, and any other documents related to product assembly or sub-assembly. Ability to effectively communicate with superiors and other employees one-on-one, or in small group situations.
Mental, Physical and Visual DemandsPosition requires close vision, coordination to perform close work with hands, and the ability to work under pressure of a scheduled deadline.
