Location: Irvine, CA - Onsite
Base Pay: $65,000 – $75,000

About this position: The Quality Assurance Engineer I supports Advantech’s hardware manufacturing and production operations by ensuring product quality, reliability, and compliance throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. This role focuses on quality control, inspection, testing, and process improvement for computer hardware, embedded systems, and electronic assemblies. Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams, the Quality Assurance Engineer I helps identify quality issues, supports root cause analysis, and ensures products meet Advantech’s internal standards as well as customer and regulatory requirements.

This is an entry-to-mid level role ideal for candidates looking to grow within a hardware manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform quality inspections for incoming materials, in-process assemblies and finished goods.
• Execute functional, cosmetic and basic electrical tests on computer hardware, embedded systems and electronic assemblies.
• Review manufacturing work instructions, SOPs, BOMs, and engineering documentation to ensure quality requirements are met.
• Document nonconformances, defects, and inspection results using established quality systems.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities.
• Assist with first article inspections (FAI), pilot builds, and production ramp-ups.
• Monitor manufacturing processes to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, ISO-related processes, and customer requirements.
• Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate quality records to support traceability and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Electronics or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or hardware-related roles (internships acceptable).
• Basic understanding of electronics, computer hardware, or embedded systems manufacturing.
• Familiarity with quality inspection methods and defect tracking.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, schematics, and manufacturing documentation.
• Experience using common inspection and measurement tools.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in electronics or computer hardware manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
• Exposure to root cause analysis methods (5 Whys, Fishbone, CAPA).
• Experience with IQC, IPQC, or FQC processes.
• Knowledge of ESD controls and workmanship standards.
• Experience collaborating cross‑functionally with Manufacturing and Engineering teams.
