Scion Legal, the national legal recruiting division of Scion Staffing, has been engaged to conduct a confidential search on behalf of a respected and well-established California-based insurance defense litigation firm. This firm is known for its strong trial culture, sophisticated defense work, and collaborative attorney environment. They are seeking a Litigation Attorney with 5+ years of insurance defense experience to join their Irvine office and support complex catastrophic personal injury and construction defect matters.
LEGALOPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW
This role offers hands-on responsibility across all phases of litigation, including depositions, motion practice, expert coordination, and trial preparation. Attorneys in this position are entrusted with managing their own matters while working closely with experienced litigators and trial attorneys. There is a clear opportunity for first- and second-chair trial experience.
The position is based in Irvine, CA, with regular travel to Los Angeles and surrounding counties, and occasional travel to central and northern California for court appearances, depositions, and site inspections.
What You Will Do- Manage complex insurance defense litigation matters from inception through trial
- Draft pleadings, discovery, law and motion, and Case Management Orders
- Appear in court and handle hearings and procedural matters
- Take and defend depositions, including expert depositions
- Coordinate with clients, insurance carriers, and expert witnesses
- Analyze case strategy and provide detailed reporting to carriers
- Attend site inspections and support all phases of trial preparation
- Participate in first and second-chair trial opportunities
- Active California Bar license in good standing
- Minimum of 5 years of insurance defense litigation experience
- Strong analytical, legal writing, and research skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfort managing a fast paced litigation docket with autonomy
- Willingness to travel as required for litigation needs
This role offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 to $180,000 DOE, representing the firm’s good faith minimum and maximum range at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and location.
