Our transition from on-premise infrastructure to AWS (lift-and-shift model on EC2), we need a replacement resource who can support both:
Traditional system administration and deployment activities
AWS cloud infrastructure operations
Ongoing CI/CD pipeline support (Jenkins)
SSL lifecycle management and automation
Although our workloads have moved to AWS, we are still operating primarily in an EC2-based architecture and require strong infrastructure-level administration.
Description:
The Systems Administrator will serve as a technical leader responsible for defining and executing strategies for maintenance, standards, lifecycle management, design, and implementation of the company s server and infrastructure environment. Responsibilities include complex troubleshooting, performance analysis, integration testing, and both business and technical evaluation of proposed solutions.
Key Responsibilities Core System Administration- Perform Linux and Windows Server administration.
- Install, configure, and maintain server components including:
- Windows Server
- Linux distributions
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
- File and Print services
- VMware virtualization
- Maintain and optimize server roles for performance, reliability, and security.
- Support and maintain Adobe AEM environments, including:
- User and permission management
- Dispatcher configurations
- Webserver integration (Apache/IIS)
- Monitor AEM performance, logs, replication, and workflows.
- Troubleshoot AEM-related issues and collaborate with Dev Ops/development teams on deployments and updates.
- Assist with AEM patching, upgrades, and environment hardening.
- Support and manage AWS workloads, including:
- EC2 instance administration
- S3 storage management
- IAM account, role, and policy oversight
- VPC networking and connectivity
- Cloud Watch monitoring, metrics, and alerts
- Assist with:
- OS patching and maintenance for cloud-hosted instances
- Resource optimization and cost management
- Capacity planning and environment scaling
- Collaborate with cloud engineering and automation teams on deployments or platform improvements.
- Continuously monitor server health, performance, and availability.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve server and service issues.
- Respond to helpdesk tickets through ITSM systems efficiently.
- Assist with building and maintaining desktop/laptop OS images.
- Maintain accurate server and infrastructure inventory, asset history, and lifecycle data.
- Implement and maintain security controls across Linux, Windows, AWS, and AEM environments.
- Apply security updates, patches, and configuration hardening.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support identity and access management best practices.
- Create and maintain user accounts, groups, permissions, and access policies for:
- Active Directory
- AEM
- AWS IAM
- Enforce least privilege and secure access management principles.
- Monitor system performance metrics and logs.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks across server, storage, and application layers.
- Optimize infrastructure components for efficiency and uptime.
- Manage installation, updates, and configuration of server-based applications.
- Ensure proper software licensing, compatibility, and deployment processes.
- Support application deployments for AEM, Windows services, and Linux-based tools.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Power Shell, Bash, or Python.
- Automate tasks such as provisioning, monitoring, reporting, and configuration.
- Provide technical expertise for infrastructure-related projects including server upgrades, cloud migrations, and AEM environment enhancements.
- Participate in capacity planning and infrastructure roadmap discussions.
- Recommend improvements based on performance data, business requirements, and best practices.
- Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, standards, and troubleshooting.
- Follow established change management processes for updates, patches, and deployment activities.
- Work with vendors to procure, maintain, and support hardware, software, and cloud services.
- Oversee vendor support cases and contract relationships.
- Collaborate with internal customers, teams, and external partners effectively.
- Bachelor s degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
- Minimum 6 years as a primary administrator for:
- Windows and Linux servers
- VMware
- Active Directory
- M365/Entra
- At least 1 year of experience in network administration or engineering.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and Adobe AEM preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
