About the role

The Practice Lead – Enterprise and Workplace Technology – Field Engineering is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of enterprise infrastructure and workplace technology projects. Reporting to the Director, this role acts as a delivery and quality owner across multiple engagements—ensuring best-in-class execution in structured cabling, enterprise networking, wireless, and workplace IT deployments.

The Practice Lead serves as a bridge between strategic leadership and tactical execution, driving operational excellence, mentoring engineering teams, and supporting pre‑sales efforts. This role demands a hands‑on leader with deep technical knowledge, strong project oversight skills, and the ability to align field engineering activities with client needs and enterprise standards.

What you'll be doing
  • Partner with business leaders to deliver services that support company objectives and that are consistent with Winning Together values.
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day execution of enterprise infrastructure and workplace deployments.
  • Ensure project scope, timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met consistently across assigned initiatives.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for technical or operational issues at the project level.
  • Lead technical planning and field execution for:
  • Structured cabling (copper and fiber)
  • High‑density wireless (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba)
  • Workplace endpoint hardware (desktops, laptops, peripherals)
  • IDF/MDF design and remote site buildouts
  • Ensure installation best practices, compliance, and documentation standards are followed.
  • Support modernization of legacy infrastructure and adoption of hybrid workplace solutions.
  • Provide coaching, technical guidance, and daily oversight for field engineers and technicians.
  • Support training, mentoring, and development aligned to emerging technologies and project demands.
  • Conduct site readiness assessments and ensure crews are equipped to deliver against client expectations.
  • Enforce quality standards, field documentation protocols, and safety compliance across active projects.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and post‑project reviews to support continuous improvement.
  • Monitor field performance metrics and help drive corrective actions when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Sales, PMO, and Solutions Architects to ensure readiness for new deployments.
  • Participate in client site walks, kickoff meetings, and technical discovery sessions.
  • Support pre‑sales scoping by reviewing Statements of Work (SOWs), resource plans, and project estimates.
  • Work with OEMs and third‑party vendors to ensure delivery standards and technical compatibility.
  • Help onboard and manage subcontractors, ensuring alignment with field expectations and safety requirements.
  • Embrace and support Computacenter’s mission and core values.
What you have
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure or workplace technology delivery
  • 3+ years in a field engineering leadership or supervisory role
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling, wireless networking, and workplace IT infrastructure
  • Proven ability to manage field operations, quality assurance, and project delivery across multiple engagements
  • Experience leading field teams across distributed sites or national programs
  • Certifications such as BICSI Technician, RCDD, CWNA, or Cisco/Meraki Wireless
  • Familiarity with construction site safety standards and enterprise infrastructure rollout procedures
